Theth is a small village situated in the Albanian Alps, in a valley situated some 900m above the sea level. It is surrounded by rocky peaks of more than 2000 metres. It takes hours to drive there from the nearby city of Shkoder and it is not accessible in late autumn, winter and spring.
I arrived in Theth on November the 1st, a month after the end of the season and was the only tourist for miles. More importantly, I arrived on the last furgon (minibus) this autumn and got stuck for 3 days in a house with no electricity praying for a miracle and contemplating travelling back to the nearest town on foot to avoid missing my flight back home. Thankfully, a local man decided to drive his 4x4 to Skoder one morning and I got to Tirana in time, 6 hours before my flight to London.
